On the Other Side of the Light
This painting was born in one of those moments when painting stops being merely painting — and becomes something like a conversation with myself.
I knew I wanted to paint a farewell. But not the sad, tear-filled kind. Rather the quiet kind, full of light — when someone close departs for a place we cannot yet follow. And we stand. And we reach out our hand. And that has to be enough.
The woman in the painting stands at the border of two worlds. To her left, warmth — red, coral, orange — the world we know, the world of emotions, attachment, life. To her right, cool turquoise, calm, space — something else, the unknown. And in the center, a blinding white light in which a silhouette dissolves — small, serene, as if already free.
The golden symbols scattered across the canvas are, for me, a language that reaches beyond words. I always return to them when I paint things I cannot name directly.
The painting is signed by me, finished with varnish and ready to hang — with no need for additional framing.
If you felt something in it — it means it reached the place it was meant to reach. 🤍
