Initiation
There are moments that cannot be described in words. Moments in which a person stands at the border between what they know and what is yet to be discovered. This is exactly the moment portrayed in the painting «Initiation».
A solitary figure stands before an ancient portal from which a warm, golden light emanates, holding in their hands a bowl — a symbol of readiness, humility and openness to an experience that changes life. The figure has not yet crossed the threshold. This is a moment of silence, focus and inner decision — the moment that precedes a spiritual transformation.
The temple is not a specific place. It is a symbol of the human interior. Stone columns covered with ancient signs, golden runes, lotuses and geometric circles form a language of symbols that speaks of the search for knowledge, harmony and light. Each of these elements draws the eye toward the portal, which becomes not only the entrance to the temple but also a metaphor for the passage to a deeper knowledge of oneself.
The painting took shape over many weeks, layer upon layer. Transparent glazes, subtle transitions of light and hand-built golden reflections make its character shift with the lighting. In natural light it reveals further details, and the gilding gently brings the surface to life, giving it a calm, noble glow.
«Initiation» does not tell a single story. It gives no ready answers. It invites the viewer to pause and ask themselves:
What lies on the other side of the light?
